Agents and Operators Meeting April 4th - POSTPONED

Due to a light agenda, the second quarter JMTX Agents and Operators Committee meeting has been postponed.  If additional agenda items surface, I will reschedule.  If not, we will meet in July. 

I spoke to the Acting Area Port Director, Doug Straatsma, who stated he does not anticipate any adverse impact on industry resulting from the overtime budget shortfalls the CBP has incurred this year. 

Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville requested I provide a link to a Marine Safety Information Bulletin issued by CG Headquarters on the employment of non-credentialed personnel on certain U.S. vessels.

A new "right whale" app will be available starting April 4th for your iPhone/iPad.  It is not available for Android devices, but we hope it will be in the near future.  The first version of the app will be fairly basic; it will auto-center on the user's location and show a chart with the Seasonal Management Areas, Recommended Routes, Regulations, etc.  Future versions will show location/movement of whales sighted (10-50 mile radius of user) within the past 24 hours as well as any active Dynamic Management Areas. Ships will need to be fitted with WiFi or have a router installed on their AIS unit to receive whale sightings and active DMAs.
